Rydges South Bank Brisbane Convention Center
I attended a meeting at Brisbane Convention center. Last time I attended a meeting there I stayed near the Brisbane casino. Not so convenient - real pain d'rear. This time I stayed next to convention center at Rydges. It made a huge difference - less rushing. I got of the train station at South Bank it was a short walk to the Rydges Hotel. Check in was quick and I prepaid for the room. There is a connection to the convention center from the hotel or a short walk. There was a pool and a gym which I used. The evenings are best for the pool as the morning sun is intense in summer & shines right into your eyes in the pool. It's not a lap pool more for you to cool down after the conference & have a drink. I really enjoyed the technology in the hotel rooms. There was apple airtime in room tv. So I could play SBS or ABC programs on my iphone onto the large screen high definition tv in the room. There was complementary hot chocolate in the room. Staff were friendly. This hotel has most of the features of a 5 star hotel but on a smaller scale. I didn't have any laundry or meals at the hotel but reading the other reviews may not have missed to much. Overall I think it's one of the better convention hotels I have stayed in and it made life so much easier for my stay. There's a woolworths 700m down the road if you run out of basics. Lots of great restaurant and bars around hotel. Return to airport is easy walk to South Brisbane station & 40 minute train ride.

Parkroyal Melb
I flew in late due to strong winds in Sydney disrupting flights around the country. Got upgraded to 914 a suite overlooking the airport. Automatic blinds in the living and dining room. There were two toilets. One in the bedroom & in the living room. Ample space. I went to the gym but didn't use the pool. The airport is on level 5 onwards in the car park. Just walk across the driveway in front of the airport. Good night sleep with earplugs. Couldn't hear any airplanes taking off or landing. After our meeting next day just walked across the road. Caught the flight home.

Intercontinental Sydney
Good sleep with quiet room on 10 Floor. Room service on time and good dinner. Steamed jasmine rice and steamed veges available as side dishes. Heeeaalthy! Pool was small with great views of harbor bridge from 31 floor. Swam the 60 circle rounds undisturbed on a Friday evening. Fitnestastic!! compact & tidy on 31 Floor. Breakfast a la carte was served very well in the opera cafe. Company paid so it was a good deal. Near Opera House & Circular Quay train station for easy transfer to airport.
National ANZAC Centre Albany
High technology pen speakers to guide visitors. Souvenir cards that allows you to follow an ANZAC from the 1st or 2nd convoy. I was given a card to follow Captain Shout who was awarded a Victoria Cross for bravery. A mini infinity pool that has the names of all the ANZACs who sailed from Albany. The story of 30000 men at the memorial. You can walk up to the top of the hill for the panaromic view of the harbor. Or bush bash around to the command bunker. The movable ship gun mounts was good exercise for tbe kids.

Historic Whaling station Albany
A factory museum from a time of candles and sea faring monster hunters. Informative and every little trick to captivate the attention of the viewers. The kids enjoyed clambering around the Cheynes IV whale ship. The factory deck to chop up the whale blubber and head of the whale is well preserved. There was several videos including a 3D. A bonus was the Australian wild life enclosure. We liked the whale skeleton hangar and the animated 3D figurines of the closure of the Cheynes whaling company. A must for any tourist visit to Albany.
