Merredin & Southern Cross for wild flowers in Spring

Wild flower view from the train. This is the Prospector a train that goes from Perth to the Goldfields town of Kalgoorlie. Seven hours from start to finish. leaves at 7 am and arrives at 2pm.

Merredin town. Worked till 730pm before having meal in the local pub that night.

We stayed at the bed & breakfast next door. Overnight than back to Perth next morning.

Or scrambled eggs and bacon.

Train $65 to Southern Cross on Prospector Train took 4 hrs and 45 minutes. On return it was 3 and 1/2 hours for $45 on Avon link from Merredin to Perth.

710 am to 1145 am from perth to SC. Than 110pm to 430 pm from Merredin to East Perth

B&B &120 for a single and $165 for double. $180 for apartment.

Beans for protein on planes

Definitely a source of protein. See http://www.beans.my/ Don't add too much sucrose with hot water.

There is a high protein content. Greater than 20gms per 100gm of red bean. Available on commercial flights.

After adding water wait 5 to 10 minutes than enjoy. Maybe more protein than instant noodles in a cup served on planes.

Best way to start the day in KL.

Mix of tropical fruits. Condiments for porridge and chinese steamed pastry.

Mandarin Oriental KL

Oasis next to Petronas Twin Towers.

Rooms were spacious.

Australian Embassy Kuala Lumpur

Consular style dining. In a diplomatic bunker near Ampang Road.

 The hors douvres were fantastic. Pumpkin and hazelnut emulsion. Ricotta and Salmon. And tomato mozzarella. Wow that was a start fit for any ambassador.

 Justice was served with the soup.

The mains were even more remarkable. Red bean puree!  Chicken and cumin capsicum stuffing. Avocado cream. Another east & west combination.

The desert was nothing short of stunning with pineapple tart. Topped with a freeze dried pineapple over a fruit sorbet to make it look like a sunflower.

This needed a long meeting with presentations from his Excellency the ASEAN ambassador to digest the food. After this a quick run around the KLCC park which was across the road to prepare for dinner. Another story and more pictures. Later.
